Target Audience:Open to all HT providers who wish to receive training specific to our mission of providing compassionate care through healing touch, for women (or men) diagnosed with breast cancer. Training valuable to any HT working in the care giving world. Explore dynamic of mirroring Self Care in your relationships with clients/patients.
Enrollment Requirement:
Minimum HT Level II, (Level I with Instructor recommendation)
Healing Touch Buddy Volunteer Training Program Description and Course Content:
A two-day intensive including the following:
- An overview of the Healing Touch Buddies program's history and current vision
- What HTB is and is not, who our clients are and how they will be tracked
- Interacting with clients, including active listening, setting intention, support and facilitation without rescuing
- Self Care and how it impacts on effectiveness
- Setting boundaries with clients
- Handling the specific issues that exist with breast cancer clients, including pre and post-surgical considerations
- Experiential practice with specific Healing Touch interventions and protocols
- Long distance healing: the rationale and experiential practice

Instructor: Judy Lynne Ray, MS, LMT, CHTP/I
BIOGRAPHY:
Judy has taught Healing Touch to nurses, doctors and layperson throughout the USA, Europe and South America. A published writer and psychotherapist before entering the field of integrative medicine in 1994, she is currently the Director of Healing Therapies, Inc., where she practices and instructs several modalities with Healing Touch as her primary focus. Judy is also involved with the Healing Touch Buddies Program of Jupiter, Florida, and The Beyond Surgery Program in North Carolina.
Her mission is to raise the consciousness of health and wellness on this planet.
Co Instructor: Betty Ann Baker, CHTP/LMT
BIOGAPHY:
As executive director and founder of Healing Touch Buddies, Inc. Betty Ann Baker has drawn on her years of experience as a business owner, her training for massage and Healing Touch and her dedication to community volunteerism in making the Healing Touch Buddies project a success. She has forged relationships in professional, volunteer and personal circles that resulted in a firm foundation on which to expand the program's outreach. She is co-author of a research study titled "The Lived Experience of Postoperative Mastectomy Patients Receiving Healing Touch" presented at the Healing Touch International Annual Conference September in 2008. Baker's personal story as a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed in 1997 while studying for her Certification in Healing Touch, cemented her desire and vision to share the compassionate care she received to others challenged with breast cancer.
